Biography of Executive Director Christine Bushway

 

About Christine Bushway

A native New Englander, Christine Bushway graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelors of Science degree from the College of Life Science and Agriculture. Her career has been spent working in the food and agriculture industries. She has held leadership positions including agricultural trade association CEO, chief Washington lobbyist representing the egg industry before members of Congress, USDA, FDA, FTC and the CDC, and served as spokesperson on television, radio and in print on issues ranging from nutrition, and  food contamination and production issues.

Entrepreneurial by nature, Ms. Bushway has been a business owner having expanded her consulting business to a full service advertising, public relations and marketing strategies agency focused on food and agriculture clients and issues. Among others, her clients included the American Egg Board, the PA Beef Council, Radlo Foods, the New England Brown Egg Council, Great River cooperative, Texas Peanut Producers, Penn Ag Industries Association, the NH Apple Growers, and the NH Audubon Society. Ms. Bushway has produced tv, radio, and print advertising, collateral materials and media outreach campaigns.

An experienced grant writer and business development facilitator, Ms. Bushway has run trade shows, worked on export enhancement programs and has an extensive background in food safety and crisis communications. One of her proudest accomplishments was founding the Egg Nutrition Center in Washington, DC. Now an internationally recognized resource, the center funds research and provides industry, consumers and health-related agencies with scientifically accurate information on egg nutrition. Most recently Ms. Bushway has served as Director of State Programs for the American Egg Board to extend and enhance national advertising and promotion of the Incredible Edible Egg consumer awareness campaign through out the country.


On September 22, 2008, Ms. Bushway will become the new Executive Director of OTA. Having grown up in southern NH, about 30 miles north of OTA's Greenfield headquarters, she expects to relocate to the area within the next year. "The move takes me back to my roots and a large extended family and friends." Ms. Bushway currently resides in Alexandria, VA with her 9 year old daughter, 10 year old Shetland sheepdog and her daughter's 3 month old dwarf hamster.
