WASHINGTON AREA SERVICE CENTER (WASC)

Operations and Maintenance Branch

The Operations and Maintenance Branch provides building and office services through subsidiary business components.  Business services offered by the Operations and Maintenance Branch include: alterations to existing workspaces; maintenance and repair of building equipment inventories; office cleaning services; environmental controls for heating, cooling and lighting; interior and exterior landscaping; snow removal; pest control; recycling; and concessions management for eateries.   The creation of new offices from old workspace, or minor alterations to existing workspaces, is accomplished through reimbursable agreements from agency administrative budgets to the Washington Area Service Center.  Interior design and construction design can be obtained upon request and included as an element of any renovation when needed.  Agency administrative contacts seeking these services may contact their assigned technical representative on 720-2911.   USDA employees needing adjustments to environmental controls in their individual workspaces, or wishing to obtain any of the other services offered by the branch may visit the Operations and Maintenance Branch in Room S-228, South Building, or contact the Washington Area Service Center “Hotline” helpdesk at 720-6858.  We especially solicit employee reports of restroom plumbing problems and any other facilities maintenance items they may observe.
