Vaccine Research Center Reaches Halfway Mark

The new Dale and Betty Bumpers Vaccine Research Center is now
about 50 percent complete, says its construction manager. The steel
erection in the penthouse was to be finished by the end of August.
The pre-cast concrete exterior for the building is due for completion
by mid-September and the curtain wall (window glazing) will also be
done by mid-September, said Nancy Decker of Spaulding & Slye.
"The whole building will be weather-tight by the end of September
1999. We are right on schedule for completion of the project in May
2000," she said. The top photo is the southeast face of the VRC,
also known as Bldg. 40, and the bottom photo is a view of the
northeast elevation.
