Registration Open for Fall Saturday Academy


CORVALLIS, Ore. – Registration is now available for the fall term programs of Saturday Academy, providing middle and high school students in the Willamette Valley a range of enrichment courses on topics ranging from psychology to forensic engineering and fish.

More information about courses, topics, dates and registration can be obtained on the web at http://academy.engr.oregonstate.edu, or by calling (541) 737-8139.

Saturday Academy is a non-profit program hosted by the College of Engineering and College of Science at Oregon State University, in cooperation with local businesses and professionals. Small fees are charged for classes, most of which are a single day on a weekend, but tuition assistance is available. Students from Albany and Mill City schools pay half the regular fee schedule.

Classes this fall for high school students include:

• Study skills and stress management for school

• A science club for women interested in science, engineering and mathematics

• Invertebrate taxonomy

• Study of earthquakes and volcanoes

• Personal programming for success

• Forensic engineering

• Underwater volcanoes and mysteries

• Money and credit management

• Modern veterinary medicine

• Entrepreneurial skills for teens

Classes this fall for middle school students include:

• Study skills and stress management for school

• A science club for women interested in science, engineering and mathematics

• Math in nature

• Psychology and the human brain

• Study of earthquakes and volcanoes

• Creative engineering design

• Fish hatcheries and the aquatic environment
