OSU High Five Challenge Victory Over UO to be Broadcast on June 10

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Think you’re smart? Pretty good at “Jeopardy” and “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”

Try this question on for size: “The triangular foss, helix, anti-helix, tragus and anti-tragus are names of the visible external parts of what organ of perception?” Correct answer: the ear.

This is just a sample of the types of questions Oregon State University’s University Honors College High Five Challenge/College Bowl team faced this season.

After a College Bowl season that included the campus program and a regional championship in February, the Honors College team competed against a group from the University of Oregon in the High Five Challenge, defeating the Ducks in their April 9 match-up.

High Five Challenge teams competed in 10 categories, which included everything form math to sports, trivia to history.

The victory over UO will be broadcast on Oregon Public Broadcasting on Sunday, June 10, at noon.

The OSU High Five Challenge team is made up of Jackie Sleeper of Gaston, Ore.; David McCandless of Topeka, Kan.,; Ryan Bonaker of Salem, Ore.; Nathan White of Dallas, Ore.; and Brandon Wheeler of Newport, Ore.

About the University Honors College: The University Honors College awards OSU's most prestigious undergraduate degree, the Honors Baccalaureate – one of only a dozen such degrees in the nation. Honors students are drawn from all majors across the campus, holding dual citizenship in their academic department and in Honors. Honors graduates complete a thesis and leave OSU leadership-ready.
