General FAQs

Q. I forgot my password, what should I do?
A. Go to the "Forgot Your Password" page to have your password e-mailed to you. Have your username ready.

Q. Do I have to log in each time I visit the site?
A. No, simply click "Remember Me" upon login. The Remember Me feature is designed to allow you to remain logged in after you close your browser, so that when you return to the site later, you can skip the login screen. Please visit "Remember Me Help" for more information.

Q. mySections, myDivisions and /or myCommittees disappeared. How do I get them back?
A. Once you log in to view any of the member-only content, your myPages will appear on the left menu. However, if you are go to a page on IFT.org's public facing site, you will lose these links.To get your myPage links back, simply click on a members-only page such as the Membership Directory or Member Center.

Q. What Web browser do I need to use this website?
A. This site functions best in MS Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater OR Netscape 7.0 or greater.

Q. There's so much information here. Sometimes I have trouble finding my way around.
A. We've organized our site into several major sections, all accessible from the navigation menus. You can always get back to where you began by clicking on the "breadcrumbs" that appear at the top of the page. Breadcrumbs are navigation elements that look like this:

Q. I still can't find the information I'm looking for. What now?
A. Try using the Search box located in the upper left corner of each page. To search, simply type a word or phrase in the box and click the "GO" button.

Q. Who can I contact at IFT if I am having trouble with the site? Is there any way to communicate with a live person?
A. Absolutely. The easiest way is to e-mail us at mailto:info@ift.org?subject=IFT Website Question.  If you need immediate assistance, please contact an IFT Central representative weekdays from 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. CT at  800-IFT-FOOD or 312-782-8424.

Q. What is a PDF file and why do I need to download special software to view it?
A. PDF (Portable Document Format) is a file format that captures all the elements of a document. To view PDF files, you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If you don't have it, you can download the latest version from Adobe's website. Once you've downloaded the Reader, it will automatically start whenever you want to look at a PDF file.
