GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
To 15 feet, vigorous, suckering from base, large, rounded form
ADAPTABILITY:
Full sun, neutral soil, good air circulation.
FUNCTIONS:
Screen (with pruning), informal hedge, specimen.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Mildew (biggest problem with common lilac), borers and scale. Remove spent flowers
to prevent flowering from occurring only in alternate years. Remove suckers.
