Learn Your Way

USGBC provides LEED workshops, online courses and webinars to help increase your knowledge, expand your practice, and maximize your success in the green building industry. See the list of courses to the right, organized by level of knowledge. USGBC presents additional green building courses through its Education Provider Program.

USGBC Instructor-led workshops (full or half-day programs):

These live, in-person education programs offer the opportunity to:

  • Learn from skilled LEED faculty members who are experienced LEED practitioners as well as trained facilitators.
  • Benefit from faculty members’ personal experience and insight.
  • Get the answers to your questions live and in-person.
  • Network with other participants and learn from their experiences and ideas.
  • Prepare for LEED credential examinations.
  • Receive a discount on printed corresponding LEED Reference Guide.
    • 300 (advanced) level workshop participants also receive free online access to corresponding LEED Reference Guide.
  • Earn continuing education credits and satisfy LEED credential maintenance.

Offerings are available at every learning level (introductory to advanced). Registration fees for half-day workshops begin at $175; full-day fees begin at $345.

USGBC Online-anytime courses:

These self-guided education programs are available online and offer the opportunity to:

  • Learn at your own pace (courses range from 1 to 5 hours in length).
  • Support a low-carbon learning alternative.
  • Receive 60-day access to course material.
  • Earn continuing education credits and satisfy LEED credential maintenance.

Offerings are available at introductory and intermediate learning levels. Registration fees begin at $25.

USGBC Webinar programs (live and online-anytime):

These online programs supplement LEED core curriculum and offer the opportunity to:

  • Hear from industry leaders.
  • Engage in targeted green building topics, including real-life LEED case examples and lessons learned.
  • Ask the experts questions in real-time.
  • View the archived version on-demand for up to one year from the live broadcast.
  • Earn continuing education credits and satisfy LEED credential maintenance.
  • Access supplemental resources.
  • Purchase either as a series or individual live sessions.

Sessions are typically 90 minutes in length. Registration fees vary per series, starting at $60 per Internet connection.

Education Provider Program Courses

USGBC’s Education Provider Program expands access to top-quality green building education offered by other providers and approved by USGBC.

Courses offered by Education Providers offer the opportunity to:

  • Build upon the core knowledge of USGBC’s LEED curriculum.
  • Expand your base understanding of a diversity of green topics.
  • Further your training in specific green building knowledge areas.
  • Access a multitude of learning formats, expertise and viewpoints.
  • Earn continuing education credits and satisfy LEED credential maintenance.

Private LEED Workshops

Host an in-house LEED workshop for your employees. Private workshops are an exclusive benefit for USGBC members and are available for groups of 20 or more. Choose from any of our full-day or half-day sessions. Learn more (PDF)

USGBC also offers private workshops for students-only groups at colleges and universities. Learn more (PDF)

Group Discounts

Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more employees from the same company attending the same instructor led workshop. Groups of 10-14 employees receive a 10% discount and groups of 15 or more receive a 15% discount. Contact us for more information and to receive a discount code to use during registration. Please note that the discount cannot be applied retroactively.

Student Pricing

The student rate of $150 for LEED workshop registrations only applies to full-time, currently enrolled students.  To register under the student rate, please E-mail a copy of your current unofficial transcript (or a copy of your current schedule) and a copy of your student ID for verification purposes to workshop@usgbc.org.  We require both documents.  If you must fax your documents, please send them to 202.828.7580, and send an E-mail to notify us of the fax.  In your E-mail or fax, include your name, workshop of interest, phone number and preferable times to call you as student registrations must be completed over the phone with a USGBC representative. Number of student registrations are limited for each workshop.  To expedite the registration process, please create a site user account prior to sending your documents.

Continuing Education Credits

USGBC is a registered educational program provider for AIA/CES, IDCEC, BOMI, CoreNet Global and IFMA. To determine how many credits you may earn, view the Course Description section on right side of the page.

Course Descriptions

Choose the level that meets your needs. There are no prerequisites.
100 Level: Awareness
100-level courses are designed for individuals who have limited or no prior knowledge of green building principles.
200 Level: Understanding
200-level courses are designed for individuals familiar with the LEED Rating System and green building principles.
300 Level: Application & Implementation
300-level courses are designed for individuals who are implementing and applying the LEED Rating System.
