Soil Science Institute II Course

Geomorphology image. NRCS image. An Institute series Soil Geomorphology course, to be held in Ames, Iowa, beginning May 17, 2004, will focus on the relationships between soils and geomorphology, geomorphic processes, and landscape evolution. Attendees will learn core geomorphic concepts from a series of lectures presented by university faculty and NRCS research soil scientists during the four-week course. These core concepts are applicable to geomorphic processes regardless of location and are useful to all soil scientists. Field trips and field assignments will be associated with glaciated terrain and emphasize glacial and proglacial processes. NRCS soil scientists in Iowa will assist with field site development and access to GIS material. The course is limited in size but at this writing, additional enrollments are still being accepted. For those interested in learning more about soils and geomorphology in glaciated and adjacent terrain, this is an ideal opportunity.
