ATSC MOBILE DTV PAVILION AT NAB2009
ATSC and Member Companies Demonstrate Mobile Technologies
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 17, 2009 - The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) will host the Mobile DTV Pavilion, featuring new technologies, products and systems for implementation of the ATSC Mobile DTV Candidate Standard. The Pavilion will be showcased at the world’s largest electronic media show; NAB2009, April 20-23 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

ATSC’s NEWEST RECOMMENDED PRACTICE HAS BEEN PUBLISHED
A/79 – Conversion of ATSC Signals for Distribution to NTSC Viewers is now available.
This Recommended Practice provides guidance to broadcasters and other creators of ATSC high-definition (HD) or standard-definition (SD) content and to the operators of Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (MVPD) systems (such as cable or direct to home satellite). It recommends the equipment capabilities needed to provide the highest quality programming to viewers who only receive NTSC services.

ATSC DTV Moves into High Gear with Mobile and Handheld Specifications
WASHINGTON, D.C., December 01, 2008 - The Advanced Television Systems Committee, Inc. (ATSC) has elevated its specification for Mobile Digital Television to Candidate Standard status. The new Mobile DTV Candidate Standard provides the technical capabilities necessary for broadcasters’ to provide new services to mobile and handheld devices using their digital television transmissions. ATSC Mobile DTV includes a highly robust transmission system based on vestigial sideband (VSB) modulation coupled with a flexible and extensible IP based transport, efficient MPEG AVC (H.264) video and HE AAC v2 audio (ISO/IEC 14496-3) coding.
