Predictive Services is an organizational concept incorporated at the Geographic and National Level Coordination Centers. It is the assimilation of the Intelligence, Fire Behavior, and the Fire Weather Programs at these levels to produce various interrelated products. At the Southwest Coordination Center, these programs will continue to produce their long-standing products, but work collaboratively producing daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal Fire Weather / Fire Danger Outlook products.
National Predictive Services Group (NPSG): The National Predictive Services Group provides leadership and direction for Predictive Services. It consists of 11 members who represent the federal wildland fire agencies, the National Association of State Foresters, the National Weather Service, the Intelligence and Meteorology Working Groups (chartered under NPSG) and field managers. The goal of NPSG is to promote safe, efficient and cost effective fire management practices. Through collaborative leadership, with input from user groups at all levels, the NPSG strives to continually improve the quality, accuracy, and relevance of decision support products provided through the multi-agency coordination system to fire managers and users nationwide.
