More than 1345 Big Island flood victims have registered for assistance through FEMA's toll-free Teleregistration number as of close of business, Thursday, December 7, 2000.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved $3,239,400.00 in low interest disaster loans.
To date, 649 FEMA temporary disaster housing checks totaling more than $1,451,200.00 have been issued to flood victims requiring rental assistance or minimal repairs to their homes.
1,013 flood victims have visited the Hilo Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) seeking recovery and assistance information as of 6 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2000. The DRC will close as of 6 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2000.
Disaster Unemployment Assistance is available to eligible applicants impacted by the October 28 to November 2 storms and flooding on the Big Island through the Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations at the DRC in Hilo.
Residents of the Big Island who were affected by the severe storms and flooding and who have not yet registered for assistance are reminded to call the toll free Teleregistration number 1-800-462-9029. Speech- and hearing-impaired call 1-800-462-7585 (TTY).
