Heta Victims Must Bring Documents To DRC

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa -- Victims of Cyclone Heta are reminded that it is absolutely necessary that they bring required documents to their appointment at the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC). Those persons appearing at the center without the documents will be asked to return at another time.
One person, who must be living in the dwelling, only can apply on behalf of everyone living in the dwelling. The representative for each household must bring the following:
- A valid government I.D., such as a driver’s license, passport or medical card.
- An electric/utility bill.
- Proof of the total annual income of the entire household, as evidenced by pay slips and a tax return.
In order to expedite much needed assistance to those in need, individuals who did not sustain damages as a result of Cyclone Heta or do not qualify for assistance must not attempt to register. Until further notice, only registrations from victims in Pago Pago and Nu’ulli are being accepted.
On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
