Achievement Awards

IFT Achievement Awards Food science and technology matters.
Professionals in the field improve the availability, nutrition, and safety of the world’s food supply. They bring scientific and technological innovation to an increasingly global marketplace. They give back to the community through teaching and leadership.

IFT is now accepting nominations for the 2009 IFT Achievement Awards that will recognize individuals and teams for remarkable contributions in research, applications, and service. Help us to honor our esteemed colleagues in industry, academia, and government—and to recognize the very best among us.

The deadline to submit a nomination is December 1, 2008.
 

Awards for Research & Development

Marcel Loncin Research Prize

Provides research funding to acknowledge and support the work of an outstanding scientist or engineer conducting basic chemistry/physics/engineering research applied to food processing and the improvement of food quality. 


Nicholas Appert Award

Honors preeminence in, and contributions to, the field of food technology

Babcock-Hart Award

Recognizes an IFT member whose contributions to food technology have resulted in improved public health through nutrition or more nutritious food

Samuel Cate Prescott Award

Rewards an IFT member who has shown remarkable ability in research in any area of food science and technology

Stephen S. Chang Award for Lipid or Flavor Science

Acknowledges an IFT-member food scientist or technologist for significant contributions to lipid or flavor science

Food Technology Industrial Achievement Award

Recognizes a company or organization for an outstanding development which represents a significant advance in the application of food science and technology to food production

Industrial Scientist Award

Honors an IFT-member industrial scientist or team of industrial scientists for a major technical contribution to the advancement of the food industry

Bor S. Luh International Award

Acknowledges an IFT member or an institution whose efforts result in (1) international exchange of food technology ideas; (2) better international understanding of food technology; and/or (3) successful, practical transfer of food technology
to an economically depressed area

Bernard L. Oser Food Ingredient Safety Award

Rewards an IFT member for a contribution to the scientific knowledge of food ingredient safety or for leadership in establishing principles for food ingredient safety evaluation or regulation

Research and Development Award

Recognizes an IFT member or team of members who have made a recent, significant research and development contribution to the understanding of food science, food technology, or nutrition

Awards for Service & Teaching

William V. Cruess Award

Honors an IFT member for excellence in teaching food science and technology

Carl R. Fellers Award

Acknowledges a member of IFT and Phi Tau Sigma who has brought honor to the profession of food science and technology through a distinguished career displaying exemplary leadership, service, and communication skills that enhance the effectiveness of all food scientists in serving society

Elizabeth Fleming Stier Award

Rewards an IFT member for pursuit of humanitarian ideals and unselfish dedication that has resulted in significant contributions to the well-being of the food industry, academia, students, or the general public

Myron Solberg Award

Recognizes an IFT member for leadership in the establishment and successful development and continuation of industry/government/academia cooperative organization

Calvert L. Willey Distinguished Service Award

Honors an IFT member or staff member who has provided continuing, meritorious, and imaginative service to IFT
