License Exceptions

Except as noted, content for which GateHouse Media, Inc. holds the copyright is licensed for free, non-commercial use under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution License.

Under these terms, GateHouse Media requires that redistribution of GateHouse Media content comply with the following terms:

  • Written attribution to GateHouse Media and/or the GHS-owned site from which the content is derived;
  • A hypertext link back to the originating site;
  • Copyright and Creative Commons notice included with the redistributed content.

Exceptions include trademarks, logos and other identifying marks. Trademarks, logs and other identifying remarks may not be reused or redistributed with prior written consent from Gatehouse Media Inc.

Additionally, content that is provided by third-party publishers, including but not limited to some free-lance work, Associated Press and other wire services, and our vendors, is not available under Creative Commons.

In some cases, third-party content will contain the “All Rights Reserved” copyright notice. Any content so designated is explicitly excepted from Creative Commons, but users should check with GateHouse Media before redistributing third-party content found on a GHS site.

Associated Press content is used on GateHouse Media sites under the following license terms from AP:
