Description: The University del Turabo's Museum and Center for Humanistic Studies was founded at the university in 1981. It is devoted to the study and preservation of the cultural, historical, and artistic heritage of Puerto Rico.
Profile: The University del Turabo is currently collaborating with NMNH to catalog and photograph existing Puerto Rican collections. A Puerto Rican scholar selected by the University will spend three months at the Smithsonian working on the project as part of the Fellowship Program. The University del Turabo is also proposing to host a 3-day "Saving Stuff" conservation workshop in January 2006 with Don Williams and Louisa Jagger and to create a cultural festival in Puerto Rico through the Smithsonian Center for Folklife.
