Description: Established in 1992 with the donation of the historical materials of jazz legend Lionel Hampton, the International Jazz Collections of the Lionel Hampton Center at the University of Idaho are a growing repository dedicated to the preservation, promotion and study of one of the world's great art forms. The Center unites the University of Idaho's Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the Lionel Hampton School of Music and the International Jazz Collections in a state-of-the-art education and performance facility.
Profile: The Lionel Hampton Center is currently collaborating with the Smithsonian Institution on the exhibition "Jumpin' with the Bands" an exploration of Jazz' impact on American history.
