On November 21, 2008, the National Museum of American History reopened following an extensive renovation with major architectural enhancements to the interior, construction of a state-of-the-art gallery for the Star-Spangled Banner and update of the building's infrastructure. The National Museum of American History is located on the National Mall (at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 14th Street, NW) and is a cornerstone of the Smithsonian Institution.

The country's only National Museum of American History offers corporations and other organizations the opportunity to co-host a reception or dinner featuring highly acclaimed permanent exhibitions with one-of-a-kind national treasures as varied as the Star-Spangled Banner, George Washington's uniform, Thomas Jefferson's writing desk, First Ladies inaugural gowns, the first automobile to cross the United States, and Dorothy's Ruby Slippers. Your guests will be invited to enjoy cocktails and/or dinner at events featuring such exhibitions as The Price of Freedom: Americans at War; The American Presidency; First Ladies; Julia Child’s Kitchen, and America on the Move.

The Museum's 5th floor roof terrace with fabulous views of the National Mall is also available seasonally for daytime and evening events. Corporations, associations, and others who make unrestricted gifts to the Museum may co-host a special celebratory event and choose to hold a reception or dinner in accordance with the Museum's event policy. Social events of a personal nature including weddings, anniversaries, and religious functions, as well as fundraising, marketing, and political events cannot be accommodated by the publicly funded Smithsonian Institution.

The National Museum of American History can accommodate receptions for up to 3,500 guests and seated dinners for up to 500 guests.
