Consumer Alert: Marketing Of Grant Information

Private vendors are marketing/selling information on how to apply for grants. Information about grant programs can be obtained at no cost from your local library or by accessing www.CFDA.gov and www.Grants.gov. Note* some programs listed on CFDA website may be inactive; active grant programs are posted on Grants.gov.

Most Homeland Security non-disaster grant programs are designated for state and local governments and specific entities such as colleges, etc. Unsolicited applications from individuals are generally not accepted. Announcements posted on the Grants.gov website contain specific grant program & application information.

Disaster assistance programs activate only after a Presidential disaster declaration is issued. Disaster assistance is restricted to eligible individuals residing within the Presidentially-declared disaster area. Application for DHS-related disaster assistance is made through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
