Epigenetics and transcriptional regulation by PPARgamma

Closing Date: None

Position Type:

Postdoctoral Fellow

Details:
A postdoctoral position is available August 2008 to study the role of histone methylation in transcriptional regulation by PPARgamma, a master regulator of adipogenesis and fat metabolism. We use a combination of tools, including affinity purification of protein complexes, retrovirus-mediated gene expression and RNAi knockdown, adipogenesis assay, microarray, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and available knockout mice, to study the roles of newly isolated histone methyltransferases and demethylases in ligand-dependent target gene activation by nuclear hormone receptor PPARgamma. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree with less than four years postdoctoral experience. A strong background in molecular biology and cell culture techniques is required. Experience with protein purification is a plus. Salary will be commensurate with experience. To apply, send a cover letter with a brief description of research experience and interests, curriculum vitae, and names of three references to kaig@niddk.nih.gov.
