This Notice is intended to inform the research community that the following additional changes have been made to RFA-DA-05-005, “Secondary Analysis of the NESARC and NSPY Datasets” (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-DA-05-005.html):

Investigators interested in including plans to analyze Wave 2 NESARC data in their applications may obtain a copy of the Wave 2 questionnaire from Dr. Bridget Grant at bgrant@mail.nih.gov. However, applications that propose to analyze Wave 2 data must also include use of Wave 1 NESARC data. Applications proposing to use Wave 2 data exclusively will be considered incomplete and will be returned without review.

Applications may propose use of datasets in addition to the NSPY or NESARC. However, those other datasets must be used in combination with either the NSPY or NESARC.

Restricted Use Files (RUF) of the NSPY dataset are expected to become publicly available within a year or so. Accordingly, RUF data may not be used in the preparation of applications sent in response to RFA-DA-05-005. However, applications proposing to use the NSPY dataset may include plans to use the RUF data when they become publicly available.
