Dingell Announces Congressional Arts Competition

Dearborn, MI - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) is pleased to announce the 26th Annual Congressional Art Competition, which will be held at Eastern Michigan University on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. The Congressional Arts Competition provides teen artists in Michigan’s 15th Congressional District the opportunity to showcase their artwork; the piece that is selected as the most outstanding will hang in the US Capitol complex for a year.

“For the past 26 years, this competition has provided a wonderful forum for young artists to show off their artistic capabilities to the community. One student will have the tremendous opportunity to display their art in the US Capitol Complex where thousand of visitors walk through each day,” said Congressman Dingell. “I am excited to view all of the entries and look forward to honoring our winner.”

The winning pieces from each of the 435 Congressional districts will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel – an underground pedestrian walkway between the US House of Representatives Office Buildings and the US Capitol. The winning artist from each District will be invited to Washington, DC, to take part in the opening ceremonies for this wonderful display.
