Washington, DC - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) made the following comments after the Committee on Natural Resources voted overwhelmingly in favor of H.R. 4115, legislation to settle a legitimate land dispute that could ultimately lead to a casino in Romulus.
“I am pleased that my colleagues on the Natural Resources Committee voted today to solve a long-standing land claim and to bring much needed economic opportunity to Southeast Michigan. I want to commend Romulus Mayor Alan Lambert for his hard work on behalf of his constituents. I also want to commend and congratulate both Congresswoman Candice Miller and Congressman Bart Stupak, who have worked hard on this matter for many years. Finally, many thanks to my colleagues on the Natural Resources Committee for giving us a fair hearing and working quickly to report this legislation. I look forward to working with Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Hoyer to expeditiously bring this important legislation to the House for a vote.”
