Alaska

A
beach access on Kenaitze Indian Tribal land in Kenai was used as a construction staging and materials storage area as Cook Inlet platforms were being built in the 1970's.  Approximately ten acres on and above the dunes was leveled and denuded leaving only a bare face of sand and gravel.

The 20th annual Teachers’ Workshop, Studies in Conservation of Natural Resources was held recently at the Franklin Family Ranch in Blanco, Texas.  NRCS and the Pedernales Soil and Water Conservation District have partnered together to host this annual event.

Grassland bird populations are declining faster and more steadily than any other group of North American birds.  However, decision support, regionally-based habitat models that planners can use for grassland bird habitat conservation have not been available until now.

NRCS This Week features a weekly historical photo and caption.  NHQ, districts, States, RC&D councils, and all other NRCS entities are invited to submit a historical photo of activities or individuals who have worked or are working for the agency along with a caption to fred.jacobs@wdc.usda.gov.
