Twenty-eight years ago, President Jimmy Carter signed a joint resolution declaring the first Asian Pacific American Heritage Week as May 4-10, 1979. Eleven years later, in 1990, President George Bush extended the week into a month-long celebration. Two years after that, Public Law 102-450 designated May of each year Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The theme for this year’s Asian Pacific American Heritage month is Pursuing Excellence Through Leadership, Diversity, and Unity.

Quick Access To Xeriscaping Information Through PLANTS Links
Those concerned with drought and water conservation can visit the NRCS PLANTS Website for quick access to information on xeriscaping (a method of landscaping that uses drought-resistant plants that are well adapted to a local area. A New Site-Specific Cost Estimator
When introducing the Site-Specific Cost Estimator, New York NRCS Engineer Ron Young says, “For two years I've been looking for a user friendly field tool that can give cost estimates for projects.  I wanted a tool that had the method [the equations] and the data all in it so that I could see it all.  I did not want a black box or a cost list.”
