Congressman Dingell on the Chrysler Job Cuts

Washington, DC - Congressman John D. Dingell (MI-15) had these comments today after The Chrysler Group announced the layoffs of 13,000 workers around the United States:

“The Chrysler Group, like the other US automakers, faces a tremendous challenge. They can cut costs, they can turn out new models, but they already run a sound ship and produce wonderful cars. As long as the yen stays low and healthcare costs stay high, the workers on the assembly lines of the American automakers will continue to be caught in the middle. Disregard the numbers, real people and real communities are suffering here. I know that the Democratic leadership of the 110th Congress is concerned about the plight of these working families. Perhaps its time that the President should take notice too.”
