OAK RIDGE, Tenn. —

A local man died Thursday morning at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, after he was hit in the head by a teenager who was apparently trying to protect his mother.

State denies murder appeal

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. —

The state Court of Criminal Appeals has denied an appeal by an Anderson County resident to have his murder convictions overturned. The Appeals Court affirmed the judgment of the Circuit Court in Anderson County, citing that the local court made no errors during the murder trial and conviction of Phillip Douglas Seals.

An Oak Ridge police officer has been assigned to the Oak Ridge High School cross walk location at the Civic Center, according to Oak Ridge Police Chief David H. Beams.
