The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) is the central, self-governing research funding organisation that promotes research at universities and other publicly financed research institutions in Germany.

DFG Science TV to be Continued

(16. January 2008) DFG Science TV, the online television channel provided by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation), is to be continued following its successful launch last year. In 2009, once again, scientists and researchers will take to the camera themselves to document and explain the work they do.


DFG Funds the First Reinhart Koselleck Projects

(18. December 2008) The DFG has given six scientists more freedom to do especially innovative and higher-risk research. They are the first researchers to be awarded funding under the DFG’s Reinhart Koselleck Projects. They will each receive a lump sum of between €500,000 and €1.25 million for their planned research work, which they will be able to use flexibly over a five-year period.


Major Instrumentation: World-Class Research in Electron Microscopy with PICO and SALVE

(18. December 2008) Two new high-resolution transmission electron microscopes, co-financed by the DFG, are set to open up new opportunities for research in physics and materials science. The new research microscopes at the RWTH Aachen University and the University of Ulm will bring exceptional, state-of-the-art developments in the field of electron optics to Germany and be available to a broad group of users.
