We've got new winning photographs of parrots in the January-February 2009 Your Birds competition! First place winner is the delightful portrait of a conure couple, mom Leroy and dad Skittles, lovingly caring for their chick, Scooter. A big congratulations to Marlene Lucas of Miami Lakes, Fla., who wins a $50 gift certificate from our Your Birds sponsor, The Perch!
Second-place honors and a $25 gift certificate from The Perch go to Roseanna Launstein of Pinckney, Mich., for her photo of Moose, an African grey, hamming it up in a straw hat.
Deadline for the March-April 2009 Your Birds photo contest is Feb. 10; results will be posted no later than Feb. 20. Send an original photo of your bird (or birds) and you, too, could win!
Turn on Bird-Tube
You can stop sifting through all those videos on You Tube to see your favorite clips. Bird-tube.com, created by Joe Arbogast of the BirdSafe Store, is for birds only. My favorite so far is the conure that keels over when his owner "shoots" him with a finger gun. If you have a parrot video you'd like to share with the world, head on over to Bird-tube.com, register, and upload!
