Science Ambassador Lecturer Biography

    Georgia Learning Connections and the Lesson Plan Builder

    This session outlined the valuable resources available at the Georgia Department of Education’s Georgia Learning Connections (GLC) website. It also served as an introduction and instructional session on GLC’s unique online lesson plan builder. Specifically, the Science Ambassadors explored the Lesson Plan Builder’s template for creating and developing lesson plans.

    Karen Muska, MS

    Karen is an educational technology specialist with the Georgia Learning Connections (GLC), which is the Georgia DOE curriculum website integrating curriculum standards, lesson plans, Web resources, video, interactive multimedia, and assessments. The Website also provides educators with a searchable online library containing thousands of informational documents, reviewed and categorized Internet resources, templates, and online tools. Additional functionality and services include a lesson plan and activity builder with a portfolio component, and a professional development center.  Her responsibilities at GLC include creating, evaluating, and managing educational resources; developing and presenting training materials and professional development resources; developing partnerships with nonprofit state and national agencies, programs, and foundations; and assisting in the ongoing growth of the website.

    Prior to working with the Georgia DOE, Ms. Muska taught for over 9 years in the Chicago public school system. While there, she developed and implemented a science resource program for prekindergarten to fifth grade students. She was also a member of a technology training center team and mentored other teachers in the integration of technology into all areas of the curriculum.
