Why Get Certified Organic with HOFA?

    For Farmers:

  • Affordable Certification - trained inspectors from Hawaii, familiar with our special growing conditions and not needing mainland air fares, to certify your farm.

  • Use of the HOFA Trademark - guarantee to the consumer that your produce bearing the HOFA sticker or label is organically grown in accordance with Certification Guidelines and Standards specific to Hawaii and as required by federal law. Use of trademark is granted only to producers who Certified Organic by HOFA.

  • For Consumers:

  • Choice at the Market - more, better, and reasonably priced locally grown, organic produce at the Supermarket, as well as the Natural Food Store. Your support as an Associate Member will help finance campaigns to promote consumer awareness and bring more organics to the market, assuring a choice all Hawaii deserves.

  • A Cleaner Environment - fewer chemicals in our food, soil, air, and water as an increasing benefit from supporting the organic movement.

  • For All:

  • Workshops and Field Days - organic method demonstrations and "hands-on" classes offered on all the islands.
  • Newsletters and Notices - Available to ALL members and provides educational networking on the state's organic movement, legislative updates, market trends, reports on the latest issues affecting tropical organic agriculture, and a classified section.
  • Alliance Building - supporting organics through HOFA to create a stronger voice together with other agricultural, educational, and environmental groups.
  • Co-operative Ventures - to implement sustainable practices in Hawaii.
  • Access to HOFA's Database - A list of certified farms and farms claiming a small farm exemption is available to all members free of charge. Please feel free to phone or email the office and we will provide the information you request.
