The School Nutrition Association maintains the SNA Spokesperson Network of forty school nutrition professionals in major media markets that are available for print or broadcast interviews on a wide variety of topics from school food safety to nutritious school meals.

SNA Spokespersons include:

  • Kate Wilson, PhD, SNS SNA President 2008-2009 (Wisconsin)

Katie Wilson is the President of the 55,000 member School Nutrition Association for the 2008-2009 school year. She has been a school food service director for 19 years, currently serving a director of child nutrition services for the Onalaska School District, Wisconsin. She is credentialed as a School Nutrition Specialist and has a bachelor's degree in Dietetics, a master's degree in Food Science and Nutrition and is presently pursuing a PhD in Foodservice and Lodging Management at Iowa State University. She has worked in hospital dietetics and has taught at the University of Wisconsin - Stout. Katie has been very active in the state and national school nutrition associations, holding a variety of offices and teaching sessions whenever she is needed. She is the recipient of many awards for innovative and successful marketing practices she developed while working for the West Salem School District.

  • Dora Rivas, SNS, RD SNA President-Elect 2008-2009 (Texas)

Dora Rivas has been in foodservice for a total over 30 years. She is currently Executive Director of Child Nutrition Services for Dallas ISD (Tex.) and previously served for 17 years as Brownsville (Tex.) ISD's Food Service Department Administrator. She received her Master of Science in Department of Restaurant and Institutional Management at Kansas State University in 1980. She is certified as a Director Level VI with the Texas Association of School Nutrition and credentialed as School Nutrition Specialist with the School Nutrition Association. She is also a Registered Dietitian and member of the American Dietetic Association.

  • Nancy Rice, SNS, RD SNA Vice President 2008-2009 (Georgia)

Nancy Rice is currently the Director of School Nutrition Services for the Georgia Department of of Education. She had served as a local Child Nutrition Services Director since 1993. Prior to that, Nancy worked as a Nutrition Program Grants Management Consultant for the Georgia Department of Education for nine years. Before starting her career in school food service, Nancy worked as the Assistant Director of Dietetics at Southern Regional Medical Center in South Atlanta for 4 years and as a Clinical Dietitian at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta for 3 years. Nancy holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education Degree from the University of Georgia. She completed a dietetic internship at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in New York City in 1976. She is a Registered, Licensed Dietitian and is both Certified and Credentialed with the School Nutrition Association.

  • Mary Hill, SNS President, School Nutrition Foundation 2008-2009 (Mississippi)

Mary Hill is the Director of Food Services for the Jackson Public School District in Jackson, Mississippi, where she has held this position for more than 25 years. Ms. Hill is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. Ms. Hill formerly served as a member of the School Nutrition Association's Public Policy and Legislation Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, and the Nutrition and By-laws Committees. At the state level, Ms Hill was a former president of the Mississippi School Food Service Association where she also served as chair of various state association committees. Ms. Hill has also served as a board member of the Girl Scout Council of Middle Mississippi, the Central Mississippi Chapter of 100 Black Women, and the Mississippi Association of School Administrators. Hill served as President of SNA in 2007-2008.
