Bonsai Resources
University of Hawaii at Hilo’s Mookini Library has a comprehensive resource collection on and culture of bonsai, the Japanese art of tree miniaturization.
The Big Island Bonsai Association donated $2,000, which financed the purchase of 50 books on bonsai-related topics including art, photography and history.
The Jiro Tanaka BIBA Bonsai Book Collection is named after the Waimea BIBA member who suffered extensive damage to his bonsai collection in the 2006 earthquake. The proceeds from sales of his re-potted plants and his collection of books were donated to the library.
