OMRI offers an independent review of products intended for use on organic farms, ranches, and processing facilities. OMRI's standards are based on the USDA's National Organic Program.

The OMRI Review Process

Once OMRI receives a completed application, supporting materials, and fees, the staff creates a summary and recommendation, based on the OMRI Standards Manual and OMRI Policy Manual.

The OMRI Review Panel—a national board of experts from the organic industry—studies the summary and recommendation and votes on a product's status or requests more information.

Products that comply are given an "Allowed" or "Restricted" status and are added to the OMRI Products List. Products on the OMRI Products List may display the OMRI Listed® Seal on their product label or advertising. Updates to the OMRI Products List are then sent to subscribers and added to the web site. Updates to the OMRI Standards Manual are compiled here.
