Interagency Fire Use Management Teams (FUMTs)

   

Wildland Fire Use Management Teams bring uniquePhoto of Fire Use Management Team studying data from a number of different maps to monitor fire use patterns and projections. tools needed to measure risk assessment and fire growth projections.

In order to support decision-making, improve planning, and ensure decisions are based on the most accurate and current science available, the teams study the history of an area including fire frequency, fuel types, terrain, and historical weather patterns to support decision making.

The primary mission and first priority of Fire Use Management Teams is to provide local land managers with skilled personnel who can be on site to advise and assist with the management of Wildland Fire Use (WFU) and prescribed fires. Teams are available as an interagency resource for assignment to all agencies and units.
