About The Competition

WHAT IS "C-SPAN StudentCam"?
C-SPAN StudentCam is an annual documentary competition that encourages students to think seriously about issues that affect our communities and our nation.

StudentCam is open to all middle school students (grades 6-8) and high school students (grades 9-12) in the United States as individuals, or teams of students. Teams are limited to 3 students. The competition is also open to international students and there will be one $500 prize for the best international entry. Videos must be the original work of students, however, teachers may provide guidance and critiques.

This Year's StudentCam Topic:

A message to the new President:

What is the most urgent issue for the new president to address after taking office, and why?

Students are asked to create a short (between 5 and 8 minutes) video documentary that explores an issue of national significance that they believe is in need of urgent attention from the new president of the United States.

Your documentary should include more than one point of view. YOU MUST USE C-SPAN PROGRAMMING TO ENHANCE YOUR DOCUMENTARY. Videos that do not use C-SPAN programming will be disqualified.
