• Academy of Natural Resources
An educator's dream! Imagine an opportunity to learn about Michigan's diverse natural resources, discover current trends in their management and experience activities that bring this knowledge to the classroom.

• Salmon in the Classroom
smolt salmonOne of the many reasons for joining the program is the seemingly limitless subject matter that teachers can integrate into their lesson plans through raising salmon. The program can easily cover benchmarks in mathematics, social studies, language and arts, history and, of course, science.

• Exploring Nature:
DNR's Parks and Recreation Division manages one of the largest state park programs in the nation with 97 state park and recreation areas. In seven of these locations, DNR has Visitor Centers with full time staff to interpret nature through a variety of school programs, family events, and outdoor experiences. In addition, two Michigan fish hatcheries also have visitor centers, and staff, to provide aquatic education experiences. For a complete list of DNR visitor Centers, click here.

• Teacher's Resources
This site assists educators who wish to incorporate more natural resources materials into their lesson plans and curricula.

• Hunter Education & Recreational Safety Classes
Many outdoor activities require specific safety training. Youngsters, or adults learning outdoor skills for the first time, may need to take these courses.

• Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW)
BOW is a national program created to introduce women to traditionally male outdoor activities. In Michigan, DNR's BOW program are offered year round at many locations and range from basic introductory courses to specific outdoor experiences.

• Nature News
DNR's seasonal publication for kids (approximately 9-15 years of age) is available on the DNR website. Both entertaining and educational, Nature News is great to share at school or with the family.

• Archery in the Schools
Archery is a sport for everyone. It requires focus and concentration rather than size, speed or strength. DNR, with the help of many generous partners, has put archery in school physical education programs across the state.
