Special Trustee Ross Swimmer, Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians, will deliver the keynote speech at the graduation event of the Certified Federal Surveyors (CFedS) program. The dinner and ceremony will take place 7:00 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Spokane, Washington, on March 8, 2008.
“My office has been working with DOI’s Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Indian Affairs since the inception of this program,” said Special Trustee Swimmer. “Now we need to get the word out to Tribes and individual Indians that the professional licensed surveyors who have taken this special training are ready to address the unique survey requirements on federal trust lands.”
Among those invited to the evening’s celebration of this year’s CFedS program graduates are the Chairmen from nine local tribes, the Rocky Mountain and Northwest regional directors and the chief cadastral surveyor with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and dignitaries from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, which partners with the federal government in the CFedS program.
