CDO Mission Statement
The scope of operations of the Communications Duty
Officer (CDO) is National and International in nature. The CDO maintains
the capability to respond with frequencies, equipment, and personnel to
any type of natural or man made incident regardless of the agency involved
(all risk). The CDO coordinates frequencies with the USDA Forest Service,
Department of the Interior, and Federal Aviation Administration Frequency
Managers. Priorities for response are established by the NIICD Division
Chief based on direction from the National Interagency Fire Center's Governing
Board in coordination with National Interagency Coordination Center (NICC).
Non-emergency support includes providing temporary frequencies & coordination
to the field.
The CDO has the responsibility to maintain and ensure that the correct
policies or procedures are incorporated into the field operational guide,
the National
