Los Alamos Educational Equipment Gift Program (LEEG)

The Los Alamos Educational Equipment Gift program (LEEG) was established to dispose of excess Department of Energy and Los Alamos National Laboratory research equipment by gifting it to an educational institution and/or a non-profit organization for conducting technical and scientific education or research.

Research equipment for the purpose of the LEEG falls under the defined Federal Supply Classification Groups:

  • Metal working machinery
  • Special industry machinery
  • Refrigeration, air conditioning, and circulating equipment
  • Measuring tools
  • Communication, detection, and coherent radiation equipment
  • Fiber optics material, components, assemblies, and accessories
  • Electrical wire, and power and distribution equipment
  • Instruments and laboratory equipment
  • Photographic equipment
  • General purpose automatic data processing equipment software, supplies, and support equipment
  • Office machines, text processing systems, and visible record equipment
  • Other related equipment that is deemed appropriate for use in improving scientific education or research activities including equipment items directly related to scientific education or research activities; e.g., enclosed trailers that house instrumentation
