Encouraging responsible land-use decisions is a core priority of the National Land and Water Information Service. It is a goal of the Service to identify and apply the appropriate experiences and expertise needed to address broad land-use decision-making issues.

Expertise accessed through the National Land and Water Information Service includes:

The National Land and Water Information Service has been developed and implemented by AAFC experts and collaborators. Their expertise includes soil science, hydrology, climatology, land use, geomatics and a host of other disciplines. Through their efforts, the Service will provide effective and beneficial applications, tools and information to help understand the land and its capabilities and facilitate informed decisions by land-use managers.

This supporting expertise is a nation-wide network of AAFC professionals who build capacity for, and facilitate, national, regional and local based land-use education and decision making to meet the diverse needs of producers, planners, and land-use decision makers across Canada.

The expertise provided by the Service integrates research, education and outreach to help address land-use issues and problems nationwide. National Land and Water Information Service expertise includes educational awareness and technical support to producers, planners, policy makers, various stakeholder groups and the public. Land and natural resource use is a broad subject area, focusing on land-use planning, resource management and policy analysis. It is a goal of the National Land and Water Information Service to identify and apply the appropriate experiences and expertise needed to address broad land-use decision-making issues.
