Statement by Tommy G. Thompson Secretary of Health and Human Services Regarding the Nomination of Daniel R. Levinson to be HHS Inspector General
Dan Levinson has a breadth and depth of expertise combined with a dedication to public service that make him an outstanding choice to serve as the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services. In this position, he will oversee more than 1,500 auditors, lawyers, investigators and support staff committed to protecting the integrity of HHS programs, as well as the health and welfare of our beneficiaries.
Dan has distinguished himself through almost 30 years in public service and private practice. Most recently, he has served as Inspector General of the General Services Administration, where his office helped prevent and detect fraud, waste and abuse and promoted sound procurement activities and contract management. At this important time, Dan's comprehensive knowledge will be an important asset to HHS.
