Surgeon General Designate Henry Foster Remarks

Surgeon General nominee Henry W. Foster, M.D., issued the following statement upon learning that the Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee had voted to recommend his confirmation:

"I am gratified by the Committee's decision and look forward to a timely vote by the full Senate.

"I am grateful to President Clinton and his Administration for their unwavering support. I also want to thank my supporters in the Congress, and the chair and members of the Committee for affording me a fair hearing.

"Also, I want to thank my family and the countless other individuals and organizations who have supported me during this process.

"I look forward to the opportunity and responsibility of serving all Americans as U.S Surgeon General."
