Statement by Mike Leavitt, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Regarding Appointment of American Health Information Community Member

I am delighted to welcome John Menzer as the newest member of the American Health Information Community. As Vice Chairman (USA) of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., John represents an important health care purchaser perspective at the Community. His organization has shown a dedication to promoting health information technology, and we will all benefit from his ideas, experience and familiarity with health care issues.

I thank John for agreeing to serve on the Community and I look forward to working together to find market-led ways to bring better health care to patients at lower cost and with less hassle.
