Element Distribution Modeling (EDM) Workshops
In conjunction with our partner, the Wyoming Natural Diversity Database, University of Wyoming, NatureServe held three workshops in 2004 to train conservation professionals in element distribution modeling.
Additional workshops are being scheduled for 2006.
Each workshop addresses: (1) the background and theory of element distribution modeling; (2) applications of predictive distribution maps; (3) current methods of producing element distribution models and maps; and (4) how to produce element distribution models and maps with natural heritage program and other (e.g., collections) occurrence data, including hands-on demonstrations and the dissemination of free
and proven software.
