Iowa State University Extension nutritionist Ruth Litchfield says during difficult economic times Iowans can't afford not to invest in their health.

That means maintaining a physical activity program and healthy eating habits.

Community Economic Development

The Director of Iowa State University Extension Community Economic Development and associate dean of the College of Design Tim Borich says the current recession has many Iowa communities very concerned about the potential impact. Borich says the whole area of community economic development becomes very important during tough economic times. He says they are working with the League of Iowa Municipalities and many Iowa cities and towns.

PMI - Continues to Decline

ISU Extension Director of CIRAS Ron Cox

The director of the Center For Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) at Iowa State University Ron Cox examines the last PMI number. Cox says the index reflects manufacturing health and fell to 32.4 in the December report -- the lowest level since June, 1980.
