Ranking/Prioritizing systems

NatureServe & TNC Invasive Species Assessment Protocol
For use in assessing, categorizing, and listing non-native plants according to their impacts on native plants, animals, and natural communities and to make the process of assessing non-native species objective, transparent, and systematic. The protocol is intended to be applied to species as they occur over large areas, such as nations, ecoregions, provinces, or states. NatureServe has begun using the Protocol in an effort to eventually assess the approximately 3,500 non-native vascular plants recorded as occurring outside of cultivation in the United States; by June 1, 2004 NatureServe had already completed 300 assessments.

California Invasive Plant Council and Southwest Vegetation Management Association's Criteria
These Criteria for categorizing non-native invasive plants that threaten wildlands were also designed for assessing and listing non-native plants according to their impacts on native biodiversity in wildlands, based on their ecological impacts, ability to invade natural vegetation and current extent. Developed for use at the state level in California, Arizona and Nevada, these Criteria can be modified for use in other states or large regions.
