Michigan

Michigan State Agriculture Department Receives CIG Grant
The Michigan Department of Agriculture  announced that it will receive a $600,000 NRCS Conservation Innovation Program grant to support the delivery of conservation programs in Michigan.

Brenda Dodson was recently honored at the Cumberland County Soil Conservation District's annual awards dinner for her outstanding volunteer efforts to the NRCS Crossville Field Office and the Cumberland County Soil Conservation District where she has donated her time, talents, and energy since March 11, 1991.

By unanimous consent, the Senate voted last week to confirm NRCS Chief Bruce I. Knight to be Under Secretary of Agriculture for Marketing and Regulatory Programs and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Commodity Credit Corporation.  Others nominations confirmed for the Department included Michael Dunn, Commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission; Nancy Montanez-Johner, Under Secretary of Agriculture for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services; and Margo McKay, Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights.
