Macroeconomic Linkages

Changes in Federal farm and rural programs generate impacts in the rural economy beyond the farmgate. These macroeconomic linkages affect farm and nonfarm employment, farm and rural households, as well as the overall rural economic performance. ERS analyzes the degree to which changes in USDA programs or economic conditions could produce significant macroeconomic linkage effects in the rural economy.

In the long run, CRP's impact on rural job growth is not permanent.
