NCRR's Science Education Partnership Awards are designed to improve life science literacy throughout the nation.

NCRR's Division of Biomedical Technology supports research to develop innovative technologies and helps make them accessible to the biomedical research community.

NCRR's Division of Research Infrastructure supports programs to enhance the competitiveness of investigators in underserved states and institutions and also provides funding to build, expand, remodel, or renovate research facilities throughout the nation.

NCRR's Division of Comparative Medicine helps meet the needs of biomedical researchers for high-quality, disease-free animals and specialized animal research facilities.

NCRR's Division for Clinical Research Resources provides funding to biomedical research institutions to establish and maintain specialized clinical research facilities and clinical-grade biomaterials that enable clinical and patient-oriented research.

The broad purpose of the workshop is to identify problems encountered in T1 research, solutions to these problems and best practices for moving projects forward. The conference will concentrate specifically on consideration of pathways and team science, incorporating advanced technologies and animal models into T1 research and the needs of young investigators in the context of problems, solutions and best practices.

141st Meeting of the National Advisory Research Resources Council

During the February 12, 2009, meeting of the National Advisory Research Resources Council, presenters will provide an update on CTSA activities as well as discuss the CTSA consortium’s development of a Strategic Plan. An additional focus will be on CTSA Informatics with a report from the Key Function Committee, a discussion of the Subject Participant Recruitment Portal, and a description of the Informatics Pilot Projects.

The meeting also will feature a presentation on the Department of Energy’s research and resources related to Systems Biology. The Council also will discuss the updated Institutional Development Award (IDeA) eligibility criteria. In addition, the NCRR Biennial Tracking and Inclusion Report will be presented, as well as a Concept Clearance related to Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence Infrastructure Support.

The open session will conclude with the recognition of retiring Council members.

National Technology Centers for Networks and Pathways — All Hands Meeting

The 2009 National Technology Centers for Networks and Pathways (TCNP) All Hands Meeting will focus on science, with oral and poster presentations from center investigators and their biomedical collaborators. Each center will present on technology development, biological applications, and outreach activities.

The TCNP programexternal link, opens in new window currently supports five centers that develop and apply technologies for elucidation of protein networks and pathways of interaction. The primary goal of the TCNP is to develop new ways to study the dynamics of molecular interactions within cells. Understanding these dynamic interactions will shed light on the normal functions of molecular systems and their abnormal functions in disease. These centers develop new technology and expertise, apply them to challenging biomedical research problems, and make these tools available as a resource for the community.
